Now that you have your dream hair, you'll want to follow the care instructions below to care for your new look.

Below is a guide to reference when taking care of your extensions. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

how to: take care of your new hair

washing & styling

sleeping

  • To avoid matting, don't scrub the extensions too hard. Gently wash your hair in circular motions.

  • Brush your hair before washing.

  • Rinse shampoo and conditioner thoroughly.

  • Let conditioner sit for 2-5 minutes.

  • Use products with extra moisture as your extension hair is not getting the same oils from your scalp as your actual hair.

  • Incorporate a hair oil into your routine. Using this before brushing can avoid unnecessary tangles or brushing too hard.

  • Invest in a moisturizing hair mask to increase the longevity of your extensions.

  • Brush your hair at least twice a day. Do so by holding the root of the extension to avoid pulling too hard and brush from the bottom up.

swim & sun

  • It is best to avoid getting your hair wet while swimming. Too much salt water or chlorine can damage the extensions and cause matting.

  • Before getting in the pool, ocean, or lake, rinse your hair with fresh water. Then spray with leave in conditioner or apply conditioner throughout and comb through. After this put your hair up securely in a bun or braid.

  • Shampoo and condition your hair as soon as possible after leaving the water.

  • sunscreen, self tanner, or any kind of tanning oil may have a chemical reaction in your hair as well as cause staining or color shifts to the extension hair. This is not reversible in most cases.

  • Extension safe sunscreens:

  • Bare Republic Mineral Sunscreen Lotion.

  • Sun Bum Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion.

  • Coola Mineral Body Organic Sunscreen.

  • Any mineral sunscreen.

  • Put a small amount of oil on the ends of your extension hair and brush before sleeping.

  • Do not sleep with wet hair this will cause matting and tangles.

  • Wear your hair in a loose low pony tail or braid to sleep.
